The University has empowered the Committee to administer sanctions to uphold and promote the Community of Trust. The primary purpose of sanctioning is to hold members of our community accountable for their actions while, whenever possible, ensuring an individual has the opportunity to make amends and restore their commitment to the Community of Trust. The Panel for Sanction shall determine the most appropriate sanction, or set of sanctions, to meet this purpose.
The sanctioning process can involve considerations of aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the sufficiency of the proposed sanctions, and the context and arguments presented at the Panel for Sanction. The proceedings for Panels for Sanctions after Informed Retractions ("IRs") and after Guilty verdicts at Honor Hearings differ slightly. For more information about each proceeding, please review the below documents. These resources may be used by students in the Honor case process, reporters, and members of our community.
