The Honor Committee maintains several standing sub-committees and working groups:
The Executive Committee
Consists of the Chair and the six Vice Chairs, is responsible for the daily operations of the Honor Committee. The six Vice Chairs include the Vice-Chair for Investigations, the Vice-Chair for Hearings, the Vice Chair for Sanctions, the Vice Chair for the Undergraduate Community, the Vice Chair for the Graduate Community, and the Vice Chair for Operations.
The Policies and Procedures Committee (P&P)
Exists to critically examine the common procedures and written Bylaws of the Honor Committee in order to recommend changes when necessary. Past projects for this sub-committee have included reforms to recruitment rubrics and juror feedback forms and an analysis of the effectiveness of the Informed Retraction. The Community Relations and Diversity Advisory Committee (CRDAC)
Advises the Honor Committee on its practices in regard to diversity. CRDAC is comprised of representatives from a wide range of student organizations. The Faculty Advisory Committee (FAC)
Serves as a bridge between the Honor Committee and general faculty members. Its purpose is to collect and synthesize the academic division’s sentiments and to improve the overall academic experience as it relates to the Honor System. With such a platform, the Faculty Advisory Committee may deliver policies and initiatives to the Honor Committee as well as construct outreach to the University. FAC is chaired by an elected Committee Representative and is made up of faculty members from across the University. The Data and Research Committee (D&R)
Aims to advance the collection of input and feedback about the Honor system. Its purpose is to gather the perspectives and insights of the student body and university community about the Honor case process and outreach initiatives through a variety of research methods, including but not limited to, focus groups, research studies, and surveys. The Selections and Recruitment Committee (S&R)
Orchestrates the process of selecting and recruiting new support officers, including the application, interview, and final decision-making stages. You can learn more about S&R process here or by contacting the 2024-25 S&R Sub-Committee Co-Chairs Zoya Masood and Ella Scandura.
The Ad-Hoc Working Group on Sanctions
Examines, and when necessary, recommends changes to the Committee's current sanctioning procedures to ensure fairness and consistency for all involved parties. It seeks to develop new sanctions to better restore students to the Community of Trust and close the sanctioning severity gap. This working group will exist for the entirety of the 2024-25 term.
